• Consultations service for ME/CFS and Long Covid patients

NB. This service is for educational purposes only and is not to be taken as medical advice. You should always consult your doctor before making any changes to your health regimen. If you write to me enquiring about this service, please acknowledge this disclaimer.

Are you looking for help in understanding the ME/CFS and Long Covid research? A new perspective on your symptoms? Advice on treatment strategies?

I offer a consultation service for ME/CFS, Long Covid and POTS patients which allows us to explore your situation in depth, consider how the research might apply to your situation and suggest avenues for making progress.

To be clear: I am not a ‘recovery coach’ and I do not have some kind of program that I teach. Rather, I try to help by applying the relevant research in an accessible way to your situation and by discussing treatment options which are grounded in that research.

My main areas of interest are:

    - The research of Wirth and Scheibenbogen which puts forward a ‘unifying hypothesis’ of ME/CFS and a model which explains all the seemingly random ME/CFS research findings as actually constituting one big vicious cycle of many interlinking parts (from the autoimmune to the vascular to blood perfusion to cellular and mitochondrial function).

    - Brain retraining methods to improve autonomic dysfunction in ME/CFS – both the theory of why this can work for these kinds of conditions, but also how to practice such exercises (including exercises I have developed myself). As part of this, I also believe it is important to consider critically the possible limitations of neuroplasticity, something which is rarely mentioned in online discourse which instead often promotes brain retraining as the one and only panacaea for ME/CFS.

    - Low blood bolume: why it happens and how to treat it

    - Excessive thirst in ME/CFS and POTS, and the debacle of so-called ‘psychogenic water drinking’ (with which patients can be misdiagnosed: check out my book on this topic)

    - Autoimmunity in ME/CFS: its nature, role in creating symptoms and treatment considerations

    - Microclots and treatments for them (including the blood-washing procedure HELP apheresis, which I had a couple of years ago in a German dialysis centre)

    - Ways to build up stamina more safely when you have ME/CFS

    - Hyperbaric oxygen: its science and applicability to ME/CFS and practical advice (I underwent 60 sessions of medical-grade hyperbaric oxygen at a Romanian clinic in 2025)

    - Spinal, structural and lymphatic issues in ME/CFS and the role of osteopathy/Perrin technique in helping them out

    - Ancestral ways of eating applied to ME/CFS, particularly with a reference to the carnivore diet (but also general principles of evolutionary nutrition)

    - The Buteyko method and breathing retraining. I have studied this for many years and find it to be a reliable way of improving my quality of life. It increases CO2 levels in the body which, in turn, improve the body’s capacity to oxygenate itself via the Bohr effect.

    - Low T3 / High RT3 hypothyroidism in ME/CFS and advice on treatment (I took T3 for almost three years before discontinuing).

I am also happy to discuss topics outside of these areas. In fact, sometimes people ask me to research certain topics with which I might not be familiar. The other day, someone asked me 'why does ME/CFS create flu-like symptoms?' and this lead me to look into research which I did not know so much about. Previously, another client also asked me to explain the symptoms caused by his autoantibody results with reference to the research and this resulted in producing a referenced document for him. So I am also available for specific reseearch projects that might help you to understand your situation better.

Of course, sometimes people ask me questions in relation to areas completely unfamiliar to me and, in those cases, I often cannot help (but will at least try to point you in the right direction).

I should also say that, although I write 'ME/CFS' above, I also work with Long Covid and POTS patients.

Options & Pricing for the Consultation Service

Consultations can either be done via Zoom video call or via voice messaging. Payments are preferred via PayPal although I can also accept bank transfers.

If you wish to talk to me via Zoom, it is best (though not essential) if you can send me in advance some notes about your situation and the kinds of questions you are interested in discussing. The cost for this is 60 Euro (70 USD) per hour and, sometimes, we can talk longer than one hour on a pro-rata basis (so 90 minutes would be 90 Euro). If any notes you send in advance require me to do some research, then I might need to charge a bit extra for my time (but this will be discussed with you).

Meanwhile, the voice messaging service, allows for a more reflective exploration of your situation. In this case, you can send me an email outlining your situation with questions and/or a voice message with the same. I will then reflect on what you send, doing more research if necessary, before responding with a voice message of my own.

This approach allows for both of us to reflect and gives us time to prioritise the most important considerations and questions. It can also be ideal for someone with ME/CFS for whom illness fluctuations might make it hard to attend an appointment at a specific time.

With the voice messaging service, the pricing is flexible and depends on the amount of work involved. Sometimes I send a voice message that is only eight minutes long while, at other times, it might be fifty minutes long.

The cost therefore depends on the amount of research/reflection time I need to undertake and how long my message is to you. However, as a rule of thumb, I charge 60 euro per hour for research/reflection time and one euro per minute for the voice message I send. If you send me a voice message, I also charge one euro per minute for listening time. In practice, a round of this service typically comes to between 40-100 Euro.

The voice messaging service can be continued back and forth until all your current pressing issues have been discussed.

Finally, specific research projects are charged at 60 Euro per hour.

Usually I can work on a voice message or schedule a video consultation within a week but I should also mention that, as an ME/CFS patient myself who also experiences the ups and downs of the condition, there may be occasions when it takes me some time to work on your questions and/or schedule a consultation. Thank you for your understanding.

So please feel free to drop me a line (using the contact form at the bottom of the home page) if you are interested in discussing your situation with me further. I look forward to hearing from you.
